[EN] Announcing SQL Server MVP Book Project
Take dozens of Microsoft MVPs, add their passion, multiply the result by their skills and knowledge. Put it all together in a series of technical articles and publish as one big volume. What do you get? The answer is SQL Server MVP Book Project :-)
What is SQL Server MVP Book Project exactly? It is an anthology work with articles contributed by and tech edited by MVPs. What’s the most important is that all the author proceeds will go directly to a charity. The idea of this project comes from Bill Gates himself. At the 2007 MVP Summit, he challenged the MVPs to find ways they can do philanthropy in the world around them. I guess MVPs heard that clear and loudly :-)
All articles/chapters are divided into five categories:
- Database Design and Architecture (editor: Paul Nielsen)
- Database Administration (editors: Paul Randal and Kimberly Tripp)
- Database Development (editor: Adam Machanic)
- BI Development (editor: Greg Low)
- Performance Tuning and Optimization (editor: Kalen Delaney)
I've written a short chapter for Database Development category. It’s titled "Utils now! Extend your productivity in SQL Server Management Studio and Query Analyzer". Right now it’s in the hands of the editors.
The book will be published by Manning Publications. I don’t know the schedules but as soon as I find out I’ll post it. Stay tuned. I’ll keep blogging all the news on this project.
PS. Huh, you should see the list of the authors, great names of SQL Server community are there! :-) It’s really a pleasure to be a part of it.
